i saw this somewhere else. This guy ran the baja 1000 in a jeep and broke his transfer case in half! he had to drive for 60 miles like that before he met his pit crew. Amazing! picture by POR

Not that amazing if you've ever had an NP231 (or any case like it) apart. As long as he did not have it in 4wd, he could have driven like that for quite a while provided that grit stayed out of the bearings. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Looks like the drive chain kept the front output and front driveshaft from dragging on the ground.
I bet he has a better skid plate next time. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Interesting how straight that brake is. Looks more like a cut. Great box to use as a doubler now.
