I have an 89 1500 step side. A friend has a 91 1500.
My truck had the 4.3 V6, and my fried has a V8. My question is, can I use the rear axle from my truck in my friends truck? His rear end blew out and needs the truck for work.
Also, would the ratio be the same?

The rear axles should be compatible. The automakers finally stopped the silly 60's practice of having different grade drivetrain bits depending on engine size. The gear ratio may be different for auto / stick trans and will be biased toward a high numeric gear (like 3.08:1)
