was looking at the UBI and then I saw this one from KnN. Since the filter is in a closed housing, this might be a good setup for 2.6L snorkel users, no?

Maybe for a snorkel it'd be a good idea but other than that seems like a waste. Aren't the stock setups already pretty much a CAI? It takes the air from the fender instead of the engine bay. It doesn't have the fancy metal pipes and all but pretty much serves the same purpose. Do the 4clys use the same intake as the V6s(through the fender)?

I know I always laugh when I look under the hood of my dad's 06 wrangler and the intake is pretty much a hole in the top of the filter housing right there under the hood.

Kinda cool. Sort of an expensive solution, IMO. It'd be pretty interesting getting that to bolt up in front of the MAF. Have to have something like Ingen's adapter since the K&N FIPK adapter is a huge oval.

Not sure that it's a great advantage over stock. The aftermarket unit is pulling a lot of hot air from the engine compartment;plus you're a lot more likely to get water in it.The stock set up takes in only air from outside.Well it's like that on the V6 anyway.

4 Cyl pulls air from the fender, right behind the turn signal.

Looks nice but I would stick with a stock aircan.

4cyl is way different than the 6cyl. i was going to try and put the v6 aircan in there, but may not now. In the end, the kn unit should work much like the v6. Also have no map sensors of anykink to worry about. [Linked Image]

I've installed a ton of these on the 6g72 engines. They come with the adapter.

Until you hit 400HP they really don't work any better than a nice clean drop in unit. If you have a nasty old filter, I'd get a k&n drop in.

I have a V6 can in my SWB, connected to the turbo. I have moved the charcoal canister and fluid bottles though.

i tried the injen cold air intake. this is also a universal [color:"black"]Cold Air Intake[/color]. if you need the installation process for this part, here i find an easy step process.
first is to determine the exact specification of your car.
next is to find the available parts the price manufacturer the fits your car.
if your car is running, turn it off. Wait until your engine has cooled completely before doing anything. Unplug the car battery, starting with the negative terminal (black or unmarked) and ending with the positive terminal (red).
Remove the stock air intake. This consists of removing the air filter, the big plastic box the filter was in, and the tube running from that plastic box to an opening in the engine bay somewhere. Parts of these will be attached by hose clamps, round metal rings which are can be loosened by turning the small metal piece on the end.
Once the stock intake is off, don't discard it. If the new intake you purchased should be damaged or broken, you still want to be able to drive your car. Set the intake aside until you know the new one works properly.
attach the new intake, and secure with hose clamps.
check the intake for play.

I'd agree with this. The stock intake setup on the 2.6L, combined with a K&N drop-in filter, would be WAY better than any of those so-called "cold" air intakes.
