Body Damage is Cool
I didn't get to check anything out yet. Waiting for warmer temps tomorrow. My '89 22RE started up quick with very cold temps this morning and several restarts throughout the day. Then just before dark it wouldn't start. It cranks like normal but gives no sign that it wants to fire. It's been a long time since I looked at diagnostic codes. Will that be of any help in a case like this. Can it tell me if I have a bad igniter or computer problems, etc.? -- Matt

Pull one of your boots off a plug and put a screwdriver init then lay it on some metal and have someone crank-look for a faint spark. If there is one, then you have spark which is good, no spark its time start looking over the ignition system.

Did you try pumping the pedal while cranking it? Sometime that helps as well.

I just let it sit overnight and sure enough it fired right up by mid-day the next day. It was about 9 degrees when it failed. When it started it was 32. I had the fuel pump jumper on my list of things to try. I learned about that a few years ago from 4crawler when I was doing a 22RE efi swap in my '84. Thanks to all for the feedback. -- Matt

Need a Spot
Also check your cold start injector.

I ran the tank down to fumes right before the failure. Maybe I had a little water in the tank that ended up as ice in the c/s injector. Of course we have ethanol in our gasoline around here, which should act as a de-icer. So far, no more problems, but temps have been higher lately. -- Matt
