Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey guys, i have been reading up on raiders and monteros for a couple of weeks here but i dont know if it's just me or what.
I have been trying to find out what other cars i can pull a 2.6 out of that will bolt up to my tranny with out any mods.
I bought the Raider for $250 and was told it only needed a head gasket but i see that there is water and sand in two of the cylinders and the crank shaft wont turn.(i only weigh 130 but my dad who weighs in the high 200's cant turn it with the breaker bar either)i dont have the space or real knowledge to rebuild and buy all of the parts i need.
so i was hoping i could get some help.
you guys really know your stuff so i figured there is no one else better to turn too smile
thanks in advanced
-Justus

It's not hopeless but you have your work cut out for you. Raiders, Montero's and D-50 pickups are bolt ins. I guess if you needed to do it in a hurry you could grab a motor out of Dodge Conquest or Mitsubishi Starion and (blasphemy) take all the turbo stuff off and drop it in with just a few mods. There are enougfh guys on here, quite a few out on the left coast who could probably help out, even going so far as to help you do it. If they would, I'd hope they'd talk you into the extra work of the two cars turbo system, but if not, maybe they could put the turbo stuff to work for the cost of doing the swap . MY 2 cents, and good luck!

thank you sir, i appericiate it.
i saw on wikipidea(which i know isnt all true)
that there are a number of cars with the same motor but im guessing because of the different bell housings and drive trains that only the monteros/raider and d-50's swap in with ease.

I use a wrench but for the top two you can only get about 1/8th turn at a time while using the open end and turning it over every time. Its a pain but you cant fit anything else in there.
