Anything is possible, but consider that the front axle has an off center differential and the spring perches are narrower than on the rear axle.

Theres a few threads with this discussion on pirate.

If I remember correctly, on a lighweight buggy it can be done but too weak for a fullsize truck especially with big power.

well as for the offset that is the problem so it may not be something i do as for the twist i am thinking of i am looking at maybe doing a narrow of the bed and frame and a side to side setup on the springs on the rear as stock is 2 front to back and do a kind of 3 link deal on it so i would have 2 track arms going to the axle and one large spring mounted in the middle and bowing down to the ends of the rear axle i figure that the stock springs will have to go and find me something much longer and a little heaver as for the front not sure what i am going to do there yet to get the twist i am after

What you are talking about is sort of, like the early Fords had. It is called transverse spring. They used what was basically a 3-link setup, two radius arms and a closed driveshaft. The closed D-shaft being the third link. You might want to look at the early Ford springs. I know they were used on the Model T up to 1948.

As far as a centered housing you could have Diamond axle make you a centered housing, should run you no more then $1,200.00 or so.
