Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hi All,
I drive a 2003 LWB, 3.4 petrol, Auto tranny Prado.
Can anyone help with some guidlines on temporary disabling ABS? Now it is disconnected only when LowLock is engaged, but riding sand dunes sometimes calls for disabling in High.
Where wuold I find sensor connectors? ABS computer? Fuse? What would be the effect of dissconecting any? Putting an in line switch?
Can I use the line that disconnects when in Low and cheat with a switch? Where can I find it?
Will it work? Will I need to reset engine to re-enable?
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kobi

Easiest way to defeat ABS is to pull the fuse.

Try it this way to see if disabling it in 4hi will work for you. You may not like the braking characteristics. I tried it in the snow, and it was BAD. Almost slid into a ditch.

Yea you could find the wire and put a switch on it. Or the power wire coming in or out of the ABS fuse.

Thanks Adam.
Do you have any idea if the ABS computer will need a reset after re-installing the fuse?

No. I did this on my 4Runner (which is VERY simmilar to your Prado) and everything worked as it did before.
