page 25-30 in the book shows item "A" as a reed valve.page 25-32 shows the reed valve alone, however the term is different. This page shows inspection for secondary air control valve. Obviously it performs two funtions. My question is how do I order one, and where from? My parts store has no listing for a reed valve

I passed emissions without it. take it loose from the exhaust mani and put a quarter under the pipe, reattach the pipe, and drive away.

The reed valve is the bulge in the metal pipe just above the exhaust mani. The secondary air control valve is the vacuum controlled valve in the black box, IIRC.

The reed valve is just a check valve and the secondary air control valve is what controls flow to the reed valve.

On my turbo setup, I welded the big nut closed and scrapped the SAS altogether. No SMOG here that is looking for anything at all like that. They just sniff the exhaust and as long as it's clean...

I eventually cut the steel line and crimped it flat and welded mine up too, but I left the quarter in there for luck...

Fast Eddy,
I owe you 25 cents. Secondary air valve is on top of reed valve. Black box holds secondary air valve solenoid.
