Besides doing the obvious and buying a new one. Has anyone tried taking theirs apart and lube them? Im not sure if it will help but I think I will try. I don't even know if there is anything to lube. Anyone tried this?

I called mitsubishi dealer the other day ordering parts. Apparently the plastic collars the shafts go through are no longer available. I'll be taking mine apart to lathe out some plastic ones in the next few weeks. PM me anyone who may want some made up. Mike

Getting the Wheeling Fever

I've had the same problem a few times. It's not actually the motor that's the problem (in my experience), it's where the spindles come through the body of the truck. If you pull the wiper motor and remove the wiper arms, you can remove the entire linkage. Force them through a full range of motion, clean out the corrosion, and grease them up.
Also make sure that you're getting full voltage at the motor. Corroded connections can make the motor run slow.

I had the same issue on my Starion, which has a similar wiper motor. I pulled the cover, and the grease was so old, and gummy, that I had to use a screwdriver for the big stuff, and then a heat gun. After cleaning it out, I adjusted the electrical contacts. Installed new synthetic grease, and it works like new!

The best method is to take them apart and grease them. No doubt its a pita to do. Short term a few drops of oil on the shafts works very well.
I also went through my wiper motor. After 20 years a bit of fresh grease and cleaning helped a lot.
I'm pretty sure the pivots are cast zinc.

Mike That's weird, I just looked up the part 2 weeks ago on the new ASA system (CAPS replacement) and ordered two pair via parts.com - I'm rebuilding my wiper system too! Either I got the last NOS ones in existence in North America, or your dealer is just a bunch of lazy liars who didnt want to lift a finger for a $2 part. I never go through stealer anymore except for the tranny oil. Get your stuff online. It'll take just as long to get anyway Besides, I would also think that getting some from a scrap yard or Russell would be easier than turning out some new ones. Jim
