How would you feel about your company if they did this?

I overheard somebody today talking about this. His company was holding a food-drive back around Thanksgiving for donating to food banks and such. He donated a whole bunch of food, as well as a lot of others in the company...quite a bit, it sounds like.
When it was all being loaded up to be hauled to the donation center, he said he overheard the organizer of the drive saying to the guys making the delivery to make sure they get the tax receipt for the donation. It would seem the company is planning to write-off all that donated food...food that they didn't pay for in the first place...food that the employees of the company paid for out of their own pockets.
What say you?

I'd be sure to make EVERY employee who donated aware of it... and maybe even ask the IRS if it was legal to do that.

They organized it on their property so yep, legal as all hell!! But also legal to right off your portion of the donation if you wanted. Don't have to have receipts up to a certain dollar figure. Now you know what kind of employer you're working for <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

That sucks. The IRS wont do anything but you can spread the word.
My former company did a charity auction in Scottsdale AZ for Make A Wish. I looked at the IRS 990 online to see what the officers were making. The head guy was taking home $ 385,000. Seemed a bit high for a non-profit in my opinion!
Same deal with the Red Cross putting all the 9-11 donations in the general fund. I understand cash is the grease that makes the wheels turn but I don't see anyone in Haiti saying how well they have been taken care of. Yes I know the roads are blocked there are these things called airplanes. I know MRE's bounce from 500 ft because I've seen it done.
