hey guys! I'm putting a 2.6 together, was wondering what to set the crank at? Put it together and sounds like its not in time. i set the crank at zero and cam straight up. what am i doin wrong??? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

You may be 180* out of time.

Set the crank at 0* on the timing cover scale. Look at the cam drive gear and see if the dowel hole is about 1/2 a tooth from straight up. If not, rotate the engine one full turn and it should be right. Check that both valves are closed. Now insert the dizzy with the rotor pointed at #1 (about 9 o'clock, if I remember right). There is a drilled mark on the dizzy shaft above the gear, and a cast mark on the dizzy housing - mate those two up. Insert the dizzy, holding the shaft in place, with the adjustment slot centered over the lock nut stud. The shaft will start to turn as the dizzy gear engages the cam gear - let it turn. Now adjust the timing with a timing light to 7* BTDC (to the left of the 0 mark, looking from the front).
