I just installed my new turbo motor and took her for the"Test Drive" I found that I had lost my over drive. Before the swap I would push the O/D button It would shift. I looked through my Chillton book but It's not very clear on diagnosis. Any Ideas???

I own two Gen I's 87 & 88 and I replaced the OD Solinoid on the drivers side of the trans on both trucks that fixed the problem. $25 fix you just have to find a soliniod from a a Junk yard vehicle that is working and its a quick fix. Work through the other source of problems firt that have been doumented in the forum before you do this.

Your water temperature sensor? Just like all the other Gen I OD problems? I put the Temp sender for gauge, and the two prong temp sensor for Ecu. They were Pulled from the monty mani and all works good. There is one other but its for the A/C I think. It worked good before the swap with no problems. Thats way Im scratching my head.

Take a wild guess which thread that link is located?

Just wanted to point it out in case you haven't see it mentioned (although it's been mentioned a bazillion times )

Swap over the one prong smallest sender from the carb mani to the starion mani. I think they are different. Make sure a wire from the original truck harness is connected to this sender/switch. I think the sensor/switch you want is the single wire unit above the vacuum temp switch and just to the left of the 3 wire sensor. The wire you want is yellow.

I checked my monty mani and it has two 1 prong sensors I pulled the smallest one. problem is my starion 87 mani does not have a spot for the small sensor. The is two 2 prong sensor spots and one 1 prong spot for the temp gauge. Can this be bybassed Because it is only activated when you release it?

Just ground the wire for the transmission sensor and you should be fine.
