I'd check both the vacuum lines (lots to go wrong due to age).

May as well check the wires (ignition related wires) but beyond that I'm not sure that electrics will play a big role in this engine running since it's not really an ecu controlled engine. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

The 87 is very much ECU controlled. That's what makes the carb such a Rube Goldberg contraption. Temp sensors, I think a TPS, all the vac lines of course, etc., etc. It's called a Feedback Carburator for a reason.

Mice are very, very evil little creatures. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rodent.gif" alt="" />

My bad. It is ecu controlled. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Hey Ray, it was late when I posted, and after a long coupld days at work. Rereading it now, it may sound a little snooty. Didn't mean it that way... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />

Naw, no worries. I was wrong about that. Learn something new every day.

FWIW, I even downloaded & checked the FSM <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

You're right and I was wrong. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

You could try disassembling it and cleaning the guts. Watch out for the little springs, though get lost easily and without them the switch is useless. You can find these switches used on here and on fleabay.

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...
