Thats whe some recomend pulling the dash to do the heater core and doing a good cleanout while you are in there.

Mine was really gross as well. The AC was totaly clogged.

Marius,
your picture is backwards, steering wheel is on the wrong side. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

lol, there we go.
ha man that interior is super clean.
so i took the dash off and wow was it dirty.
i swear there are mud caked in places i would never have though mud to get XD
i found some no no's with the ignition wiring <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
but that can all be fixed.
but i was wondering how i would go about cleaning the ducts and vents and stuff. would i be able to just like wash some of them off with the hose or would that just be a NO.
i also think im going to paint the middle flat part across the dash a matte black. cause some of mine has like red stuff in the little grooves and that just will not come out.

Marius posted my Gen1's dash, so I might as well add to it.
The dash internals can easily be dismantled (take a stack of photos first, to make sure they go back correctly)

I washed all the plastic bits in soapy water and left it to air dry.

I had the steel dash resprayed and then stuck the back full on self-adhesive sound insulation (dunno what you call it in the USA).

I tidied up the wiring, strapping with cable ties and in some places wrapped it in neoprene foam.

Not a rattle since the re-fit.
