Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm looking for a running 1st gen. montero or trooper. I've always liked the looks of both makes. definitely want a 5speed and 4cyl. 2 door would be a plus. Email me at 77lubr@gmail.com with pics and info.

Some real quick things to help us help you:

1. Geographic location will help nail down some referrals.
2. 2-door Troopers are hard to come by.
3. 4-cyl Monteros may not give the performance you desire.

sorry about that. I'm located in Wilmington, DE but will travel to MD, PA and NJ. As for power, the 4 cyl. I've seen are 2.6's. I've owned about 25 22RE 4Runners and pickups. They are 2.4 litre. Can't see the 2.6's being much slower.

Not knowing your vehicle past or expectations, it was a prudent question/observation I thought. I do get around the Sierras in my 4-cyl Raider with 33s, but it is not happy. The Mitsu 2.6L is about 100HP at 5K rpm.

Hate to say it, but the Mitsu 2.6 is about as anemic as they come. If you're up for a turbo project, on the other hand, they're whiz-bang fun. The 22RE is a power monster in comparison to the N/A 2.6.

If you're looking for fun and Mitsu, search for an 89 Raider V6 5spd.

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...
