Can the power steering pump on my 91 pickup 4cyl. be rebuilt?
It works fine, it just howls when I turn the wheel, especially when cold.

Well, time for you to download away then; that site belongs to someone else, so we can't fiddle with it. $25 now?

Staceman had a good link for a rebuild, but the dang thing's dead, or at least the one I had is no longer.

Oops- here, see if the one for the Runner will work for ya:

Body Damage is Cool
FWIW, you can get a good used one at a yard. Here's a few I found in CA for you. They usually ship cheap.
These prices are a rebuild kit price almost.

I replaced the Power Steering Pump with a new one, but all is not well.

The new pump still howls, but different.
There are dead spots where it doesn't like the PS is working.
The old one didn't have these.
The old pump didn't leak and the bearing felt tight.
I've replaced PS pumps before with out trouble. Am I missing something?

did you bleed the steering box?
I just run a hose back up to the res and open the bleed valve.
shocking how much air can sit in there.

Found the problem .
There is a pressure relief valve on the side that leaks when ever pressure is applied.

From a dribble to a squirt.

Thank You Kregen auto parts.

I thought you said you put on a new one!!!!!
not a junk one cleaned in Mexico and sent back to the USA to get even with us.

I buy junk yard ones over that crap.
a junk yard Toyota part has always been better for me then the re-manufactured stuff.
