Thanks Not sure what model vehicle you have (put it in your signature please) but the rear output of the transfer case is not sealed in a gen I/II v6. It's a slip yoke design. That said, if you remove the rear driveshaft, the gear oil does pour out. Not necessarily all of it but alot of it will for sure.

I drove mine enough to move it in the driveway, but oil will come out of the t-case. As said above, not all of it, but more comes out with every incline. use caution.

I guess I could try it in neutral. It's a 92 rs I have replaced all the front bearings, the u-joints all around, the rear wheel bearings and new tires and still undriveable due to a rear end vibration that I guess may be an out of balance driveshaft. I was going to drop the driveshaft and start it up and see if it was still there. I have about 6 months and about a grand in it and am going crazy now.

I run mine all the time without the rear driveshaft. Get one of those 2 inch diameter rubber plumbing caps with the hose clamp. I clean the tailpiece cover with some alcohol and use a very small ammoumt of grey silicon. Do not overtighten the clamp as the cap will pop off. Give the sealant time to dry. You''l be good to go. I have driveline problem and I have run like this several times for quite some time...

Nope,,,I can't afford a P.C. (poverty is bondage). It's as simple as I described,,pull the slipyoke, pull of the dust can, wipe the oil off, silicone and "slightly" tighten clamp.
