Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey guys I am new to the forum and if this isnt the right spot to post Im sorry I will get it down as I explore the site. I did search for my answer first but only found answers for lifted sportages. I am wanting to know what is the biggest size tire you can get on a factory 2001 kia sportage. No lift or mods as of yet, not sure I want to go down that road. Still I would like a more aggresive look and some more grip as I am about an hour away from red river gorge and that is an offroad dreamland

Body Damage is Cool
Jimmy,
Welcome to the forum!

The largest tires you can go without a lift are 235/75-15's.

You can get Goodyear Wrangler OEM's from several tire shops that have a good tread and are quite reasonable.

Good for the road and trail.

When your ready to lift, let me know!

Well I am driving a kia so I am on a poor mans budget, but what kind of lifting are you talking about (still have a set of 35's in my garage from my jeep)? type and cost wise that is. And thanks for the tire tip. Just the answer I was looking for!

Well,
Keep those 35's in mothballs cause you will never get them on the Sporty (due to the info U gave).............

Like Everet said,
the 235/75/15 (Ford Explorer size) will certainly work for you.....But the price is almost as much as the larger sizes.....You can put 30's on also with stock..(with some smashing and hammering also!

Well the 35's was a joke. I dont think the little 4 cylinder that could can push those things that alone the front and rear axles. I had them on a grand cherokee with dana 44's front and rear. moved down to 32's for the gas and power issues on the I6. But 30's are more what I am looking for but may go a tad bit smaller with the lower power of the sporty. Glad their is a forum out there for kia, for a while I thought it was going to be all trial and error.

before my lift i was running 30x9.5 coopers with some pretty knarly tread as well as side tread on stock rims...the only mods wer a slightly triimed front bumper with only a lil rubbing while backing up and turning...solved that problem with a lil pounding on the seam in the back of the front wheel well
