Got it fix, busted out the dremel and recreated the tread pattern. Next time I'm at the JY i'm going to stock up since it's a dealer only item and they wanted something like $130 special order.

Do you have the box mounted yet? From reading his above post, I'd bet money on it.

As usual your insightful input has been very helpful. I'm mostly curious if he ran into the same mounting hole problem that I had on the upper pair of bolts, and what his solution to it was. Kevin Kevin if your talking about the mounting holes from the gear box to the frame, I had to enlarge the holes on the gear box, I don't recall the drill bit size. Only 3 of the 4 holes after enlarging will line up. After tightening everything up I realized I could of probably used a different combination of holes to help easy the angle on the coupler, since I have a body lift on my truck. I'll post a picture later to better explain it.

The box on the right is the late model unit. It has a faster steering ratio and larger guts. The upper mounting holes are also a bit further apart. I was curious what you had done. On mine I opened the upper holes up on a mill. And used some custom washers as load spreaders. That kept the box and the pitman arm in the original location. If you rotate the box it changes the location of the pivot point where the box connects to the drag link. That will cause bump steer: a change in toe as the suspension moves up and down. Kevin

Kevin How would the box rotate if the bottom holes are not modified at all?

Kevin How would the box rotate if the bottom holes are not modified at all? But he did modify the holes and one of the top holes does not line up. So.... I jumped to the conclusion the the box was rotated. The other clue was the steering coupler issue. Kevin

Kevin Kevin I did not rotate the gear box, I thought about rotating it after everything was in, to ease the coupler position. But I did not want tear everything down since it fit fine. I thought about drilling out the hole like on your picture but was to lazy/tired.
