Getting the Wheeling Fever
He all I've got a question for ya. I'm eying a '73 FJ40 here in town and I need to know some of the "what to look out for" things in regards to this sweet truck. I've never owned one so I'm not to terribly familiar. I did speak to the owners wife and I got a couple of warning signs, like some rust and he had to do some wiring, but I have to speak with him later to get all the details. Aside from the general condition I'll look for what are some pitfalls with these vehicles, where can I get taken here and/or what sweet gems might I find? Any help on this well be greatly appreciated. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

PS: Gonna take her for a spin later today for a little test drive. Oh and he askin 4K for it, firm.....that sound decent?

Got to talk with the husband and he told me that he bought is with a 350 small block under the hood and doesn't know much more about it. He did rebuild the 5 speed himself, states he's a mechanic, and had to rewire most of the vehicle. I wish I knew more about the motor, but I'm gonna fire it up tonight and see how it sounds and how it feels.

Beat on that tub with a hammer, or at least take a magnet with you and find out how much is bondo'd. At that age, there tends to be a bunch of tub work. Beat on the frame too.

These rigs are HEAVY; you don't want a rotten frame under there.
