IFS front axle snap rings.... grrrrrr #989465 03/11/10 08:49 PM

Anyone know of the correct pliers to remove the IFS front axle snap ring. I have fought with these darn things too many times @#$%^&*(. I have all the standard snap ring pliers and there is a particular one that I have been using along with a very small screwdiver blade to assist but it's still a pain. There has to be a better way. Toyota special tool?

The ones on the end of the axle? If so, I modified a pair of snap ring pliers for those:

What you want are some "lock ring pliers." I picked up some just like these at NAPA a few years back:

ah. Thanks guys. My neighbors probably would thank you also. They won't have to hold their hands over their kids ears anymore when I'm working on these clips.

Sears sells a sweet lock ring pliers that makes this an easy task. I too fought the fight and gave up by investing in the right tool.
They were only $15.00 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> pliers

I have some snap ring pliers JUST for that function; the tips are vertical paddles. The trick is having the opening span to slip the clip over the stub.

Marlin has 'em.
