Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
I recently replaced the clutch for the cooling fan and i guess the car is cooing off too much because when I'm driving down the highway it will suddenly downshift because of the 4th gear lockout. It was all fine before the clutch was replaced but on hot days it would overheat in traffic. I have replaced all the sensors around the thermostat and also have a newer radiator. I can't stand driving on the highway in 3rd gear much longer.
Now I'm looking at going electric unless someone can help me out. I've looked at the post for the electric fan installation but does anyone know where to buy a kit to do it or point me in the right direction to buying the parts?
Thanks for the help,

Sounds like the replacement is engaging too soon. I have a used one you can put on that was working when it was pulled off. If you want we can meet somewhere and I will give it to you along with you can see how to do an electric fan.
I'll pm you my phone number.

bombardj1 - The power light isn't on. It only comes on when I push the button.
Everet - I'll give you a call tomorrow.
Thanks for the help!

There is a well known issue with a spice in the loom that can give the same effect (usually gives a check engine light signal). Axe has the directions to fix it.
Also could be a dirty contact to the temperature sender to the ECU (different to the gauge sender but located nearby on the water pump housing (when cold the engine will not lock-up into 4th gear, dodgy signal could be fooling the ECU). Clean both sets of terminals to be sure.
