I pulled the trans/transfer case. I tried to seperate the two today, but do not know how to disconnect the shift rod. Anyone done this? I have a bad sycro that I need to change. Will probley rebuld the trans. Its a 86 mighty max. They are now apart. I saw the pin when I pulled the the shifter cover, but wanted to be sure. While moving the trans a chunk of gear fell out of the tail end. There are about 3 teeth missing on the last gear on the tail end. Its the gear that spins a reverse gear. Anyone know of a good place to buy gears? Is this something that could be got at NAPA? havent done something like this in years. There was a place in ATL that I used when I ran a tranny shop. IIRC it was called Trans Parts Unlimited. Ask for Grady 404-366-1455. Looking at their website though, it says that they only do autos, but I swear I used to buy manual parts from them.
