Getting the Wheeling Fever
So I deceided not to sell my max. I pulled the trans/transfer case. I tried to seperate the two today, but do not know how to disconnect the shift rod. Anyone done this? I have a bad sycro that I need to change. Will probley rebuld the trans. Its a 86 mighty max. Thanks for any help.

Its been some time for me on a 145 to a transfer case ..If I remmber theres a pin on the shift rod that you drive (hammer) out

Thank you. They are now apart. I saw the pin when I pulled the the shifter cover, but wanted to be sure. Now on to the trans

well what a find. While moving the trans a chunk of gear fell out of the tail end. There are about 3 teeth missing on the last gear on the tail end. Its the gear that spins a reverse gear. Anyone know of a good place to buy gears? Is this something that could be got at NAPA? havent done something like this in years. The rest of the gears look good.

NAPA doesn't have a source for any internal manual trans parts, other than bearings. There was a place in ATL that I used when I ran a tranny shop. IIRC it was called Trans Parts Unlimited. Ask for Grady 404-366-1455. Looking at their website though, it says that they only do autos, but I swear I used to buy manual parts from them.
