Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have to admit, I was a bit anxious about the test. Two years ago, when I bought the Raider, I BARELY past. Over the course of the two years I kept worrying about the life of the motor. After numerous long trips towing my car to the track and other shenanigans the motor still chugs along.

Other than brake stuff and fluid changes all I've done was a basic tune-up. The PO had 3, yes THREE, different types/brands of spark plugs! Also the timing was a quite a bit off. After passing the latest emissions test with flying colors I would say this was the reason the last test was so close.

I guess maybe I don't need to keep the parts rig around after all.

That's pretty good Captain.

I worry about IM tests for my two oldest Monties. I have found the following helps get a passing grade: Drive your car 10 miles or more on a highway. Bring it to an IM test shop that will test your car as soon as you drive up - so your engine and catalytic converter (or whats left of it) are hot when they test it. This will give you the lowest CO and HC output ratings possible for your car (low is good).
