I found the source of my vibration at higher speeds, seems the rubber on my transmission mount is nearly all deteriorated. I can't seem to find a part# for the 89-91 Gen1 V6 Montero. I was wondering if anyone went through this problem before and sourced the replacement mount? Or if anyone knows how I could replace the rubber itself?

the bushing/mount the goes on the bottom side of the trans, is no longer carried or reproduced, as of last year when i was in cali, and had a trans seal replaced the shop noticed mine was shot also, and said they couldnt find one in mitsu/ or aftermarket and that theyd have to get a bushing guy to make one. i say get some body mounts cut them to fit and thoughs will be your new trans mount might help with the shaking but you'll get a little more feedback from the drivetrain.

They still make them for the 2.6 Gen1, and all 3.0s after 92. But they are all too different to make work.

if its like mine its two plates with the bushing atached on the buttom and top (molded) so they have to be cut and clear out my thoughts was putting the polys in there and with some washers and bolts keeping them in place maybe some sweet easy mod work just to make sure nothing rubs.

If I redo it myself, I will probably try to emulate the OE way of using a high strength adhesive and bushing material. I know some mounts are heat pressed, but still have some sort of a bonding agent. A bolt through the bushings would really do opposite what it was designed to do. Also the center has those 2 loops that keep everything together while allowing the mounting plates to move I think to absorb driveline shock.

What if you used poly and drilled some small holes through the whole thing then laced it with some small diameter cable. that way it would still move but have that extra strength holding it all together along with the high strength adhesive? just a thought

I'm pretty sure you can still get this part, but you will need to do a little digging to find it. Look up the Mitsubishi part number in Caps and then cross reference it in Google.
