There is a wire leading from the positive terminal of the battery to the fuse box. It has broken and needs to be replaced. How is it connected at the fuse box? Do I need to remove and disassemble the fuse box? Pop off some plastic? I didn't poke around too much for fear of breaking something else!

What gauge is that wire (maybe upgrade to a thicker wire at the same time?

Thanks in advance!

Like most of the stuff in the fuse box, you unbolt it from the fender and roll the box over; should be a couple terminal lugs you see.

On bigger wire gauge, absolutely NOT. The wire is the size its supposed to be for carrying the load. Exceed it, and you might wind up frying stuff.

My plugged nickel on that one.

Yes, unbolt the box and you'll see how it comes apart. I believe you snap it out of the fuse box, and then there's a 10mm bolt that holds the lug to the terminal.

I have to disagree on the wire size. You can ALWAYS go thicker, just not thinner. Thinner wire cant carry as much load, and will fry stuff if you try to push too much amperage. A larger wire will carry more load, and you can never have too thick of a wire. As long as you can fit it in the terminal on the fuse box.

Words mean something. The bigger the number the smaller the wire. A #22 wire is way smaller than a #4.

Use the biggest copper wire that will fit and you will be all right. Not the biggest number but the biggest wire.

If memory serves me right, the wire from the battery to the fuse buss is 8 awg. I replaced mine with 6awg with no problem.
