It has been awhile since I have posted! I have a major problem, that hopefully someone here has an answer. I drove it my T' all weekend with no problems, pulled it into the garage last night, all was well. I went to start it for work this morning, and all it did was crank over. Didn't even fire once. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> The timing belt was replaced 20k miles ago. The only thing I can think is the fuel pump crapped out. After cranking a couple of times, I didn't smell fuel in the exhaust pipe. I have disconnected the battery to see if resetting the computer will do something. ARRRG this sucks! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

DELK it's whats for dinner when you don't fill your tags...No DEer, no eLK. I hate BBQ'ing my tags...they keep bursting into flames!

I reconnected the battery (it had been disconnected for about 2 hours). Zip, zero, nada! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> Still a no-go. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Did you check the fuses (esp. the EFI fuse under the hood)?

All is good in the fuse box (fusible link) and elsewhere. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> This is the first "major" issue I have had in 150k miles (besides the idler arm 3x, draglink recall, radiator, normal wear & tear). Luckily this didn't happen on one of my hunting or camping trips into the hinterlands!

You should be able to listen fer the fuel pump when you turn the ignition to the "On" position but do not try to start the engine.

The things you need to establish first is...does it have fuel, air, and spark?

Do you know if there are any codes stored? You can pull the codes without the engine running with an ODBII scanner. I use Scangauge II to monitor my engine status as well as being able to pull codes. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

FWIW, every few months mine will lose pressure in the fuel system. Which means when I crank it to start, it does nothing but crank.

Band-aid fix is to crank the heck out of it. It builds pressure in the fuel system and finally fires up.

Might want to try cranking yours a good bit longer than usual and see if it gradually starts to chuff and fire and finally run.

I think that's yer fuel pressure regulator and the vacuum hose that's connected to it. Have you inspected that hose? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Heavens! Why inspect and fix something when I can just crank the heck out of it once in a while and go driving?

Seriously, it could be the regulator, but it could also be a few other things. None of them have the decency to appear bad to a cursory visual inspection, and I'm not willing to throw parts at it just yet.
