I used the 1/8 npt on mine with no problems. NAPA list a fitting British to NPT,,,it's like $35 , a tap is much cheaper...

I used a similar adapter from my local parts store. It was brass & the male threads were longer than the threads on the old sending unit. Worked fine . Good luck.

Mine came from AutoMeter and was tapered. Was it even the right thread per inch?

I bought two of the recomended 2269 and neather is tapered. got one from the place some on here showed in a post. and it is tapered
