Tell us again Paul why do we need this for our 5 speed transmission? I for one have forgotten and to lazy to do a search this lazy Sunday morning.

The Tuffpan replaces the stock stamped thin steel pan for the bottom of the transmission. Our trannies are known to have weak cases, so, to strengthen the case, you put a thicker, stronger pan on the bottom which stiffens the entire thing.

In 88, Mitsu did this to the stock tranny in Starion and Conquest - design is shared on the Gen 1 trucks, however, it was only about 1/4" thick, whereas this one is 19mm (3/4")thick therefore increasing the rigidity of the trans case, thus, making the trans stronger.
