 what can be bolted to a 92 montero trans?

I have a dodge dakota with a 3.9. would that bolt up? does anyone make a switch over plate to convert over to another motor? would like to have some more power????

Pretty sure the only thing that bolts up is a Mitsu. There are past discussion on mix-n-match possibilities based on shaft diameters and spline counts. No idea where your 3.9 would fit in that matrix.
Just did a quick Google on it for specs. You could get a Mitsu 3.5 DOHC and get comparable, if not better performance. Nearly comparable with a 3.5 SOHC. I'm talking smack here, but I would think the cost of the time and effort to make what you have work would be equal to, if not greater than, the cost of finding a 3.5 and swapping it in.

Anything that uses AW trans with removable bellhousing that matches. For example you could swap a jeep 4.0 if you could make that long engine fit in the engine bay or find something else that uses similar tansmissions like toyota or isuzu/gm trucks. Go to a junk yard that has transmissions inventoried, look for aisin transmissions and compare bellhousings.

Didn't FrankR post some thoughts a while back on the GM 3800 looking like it could mate up.?

The Mitsu 6G75 3.8 will bolt up. See Nate's 3.5 into gen1 post in progress now...

what was the 3.8 mitsu. motor in? do the mitsu. FWD motors have the mounts for RWD? would love to find a 3000gt motor to slip in there. so much aftermarket stuff to build some HP. when I hit the gas I want to go a little quicker..

The 3.5l DOHC from 94-96 makes 215 hp in stock form.
The 3.8l is from the Gen 3.
