Need a Spot
99 Sportage that has me puzzled. Symptoms Stumble off idle and no power. You can drive it just fine but it feels like it is down 20hp. I had codes checked and I have 2. I have code p101 and p172. IÆm pretty sure p172 is O2 sensor. I have been trouble shooting the p101 all day and IÆm out of ideas. So far I have done the following:

Soldered connections to eliminate plug

Tested voltage Per Kia global Service instructions
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature and let it idle.
2. Connect a voltmeter between terminal 4 (RED/GRN wire) and ground.
3. Verify that the voltage varies between 0.8V-1.2V.
4. Rev up the engine and verify that voltage varies between 3.5V-4V.
5. If the voltage is not within specification, replace the mass air flow sensor.

#3 I have 1.3V
#4 tops out at 3.5V as I rev engine

I pulled out ECU and checked for continuity between MAF and Pin 14 and pin 41 and everything checked out.
I tested the TPS for resistance and it is in spec 2.4 closed dropping to 1 as opened.

IÆm willing to try just about anything but have run out of ideas. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Body Damage is Cool
Code 172= Bank one system too rich

Code 101= Mass Air Flow or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance problem.

KIA CEL CODES

Check the connections on the MAF per Axe's instructions. See if that helps.

If your running rich, you may have an injector partially stuck open which will make it run like crap.

Keep us informed.
