Is there a Toyota part number for the brushes or did you just go to an alternator shop and match them up?

The part number for the alternator brushes (for my '95 T100 3.4) was 27371-70300. You'll need two, and it ran me $7.21 each plus tax. You'll also need a soldering iron and some solder. If you don't have them, your dealer will be able to get the entire holder assembly with brushes already installed (I was quoted about $18).

If anyone else is interested - there are two different styles of starter contacts. The dealer used my VIN to determine which one I needed.

I don't feel bad being that they overnighted them at no charge for me. Besides - the website you listed is trying to charge me $9.99 to ship a 2 ounce parcel. YIKES! In summary, okay - I paid about a buck more for overnight shipping, but I got to talk to a counter chick who knew what an alternator brush was <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
