Well I finally got around to ordering that Spool - I gots to get out!!!
It showed, but no instructions - it looks pretty simple... BUT - Any tips/tricks I need to know? Going into an open 4cyl dif.
Now this is going from memory (sitting here at work) Guess I gotta dismantle the dif. - Take ring off - The side pieces (marking and checking) - pull the spiders
Now does the spool just slide in, do I need to press anything on or bolt back down and good to go...
Also if anyone (Zuk) has the torque numbers it would be appreciated..
TIA

I just did one on a buddy's truck a few weeks ago.
You'll need a bearing separator and a press to get the carrier bearings off.
Everything I read said if you put the bearing adjusters back in the same amount of turns they came out, everything should be OK. It diddnt work out that way for us. We had to make some adjustments to get the preload correct. We used gear marking compound and a micrometer with a magnetic base. We put the bearings and ring gear in the over for a while, and they slid right back on without having to press them on.

Thanks 4Crawler... forgot about the tech section... I did a search but didnt find "THIS" Likely the search here only searches the forum threads. Just click on the "4x4Wire Toyota Section" link above, then there are loads of good articles on Tech, Maintenance and other topics.

I'm on the eastside though! I have bearing separators and a press at work. If you get the carrier out and give it to me, I can take the bearings off one day at work.
