Need a Spot
do any of the monty experts out there know if the dual cupholder center console lid of some gen 2 montys can fit as a center lid for the gen 1's? as i've posted before, my center lid / armrest is torn and broken, and all i've found as replacement so far is the basic inch thick unpadded lid. any cupholder lid options or ideas? thanks in advance!

I bought the cupholder center console piece from a Gen II for my Gen I awhile ago and it won't fit in the console. Too big. I got tired of not having a cupholder so I screwed it down nest to the TC shifter. Looks a little ghetto, but until I find something better it works great! I was also going to see if the center consoles might swap over but I think the auto shifter in the Gen II is a lot further back and it won't work.

I gently removed the center console altogether and replaced it with a 50-cal ammo can, a Tuffy products drink holder and a laptop stand. The padded arm rest is still too low to lean on.

I just open the lid and jam my giant drink cup inside. Proper cup sizing is the problem, not necessarily the lack of a proper cup holder.

I actually made a cup holder for the main console using mdf. Even painted it to match and tried to retain the same angles. Problem was it looked simply too kludgy for my taste. Russell now has that rig. Maybe he can take a pic if he hasn't removed it.

Body Damage is Cool
After my rebuild on my brothers car, I am planing on a retro fit dual cupholder set up design mainly for the back seat but still reachable from the front at the same time rasing the arm rest so it actual does what its name says and rest your arm. I will work on a sketch and post up for yalls input.

Here is mine.. just had to cut to fit then used some 3m two sided tape to hold it to the center console... works great.

None of those little weenies fit my cup. I use a 32oz big gulp, vintage 1993, and I used to have a QT cup holder for it, but it finally bit the dust. On a gen I, you could slip the underseat lip of the holder under the front bottom edge of the lower center console, and it sat over the little depression in the tunnel console. Lip broke off. Plan to replace that one with a new holder made from sch40 pvc and some aluminum sheet stock, maybe .120 thick. I'm shopping for another gen1 now to fit it to...

I like that reasoning: cupholder breaks, buy a new truck.

Makes perfect sense to me.

I wish I lived in the South, sometimes. I think I'd fit in.

You would be surprised at how well the glovebox works as a cupholder. Especially if you have two large drinks in there. The center console/cupholder will definitely be a mod I would like to build soon. Lets keep the ideas coming!
