HEY GUYS ,
FROM WHAT I HAVE READ .. I THINK THE 2G 92 UP MONTY SPORT UPPER CONTROL ARMS WILL SWAP ON TO A 1G 4CYL SWB RIGHT? I READ THEY ALLOW FROM MORE CAMBER ADJUSTMENT WITH A TORISON BAR CRANK .BUT WHAT IF YOU AREN'T RUNNING THEM CRANKED ?I FOUND A GREAT DEAL ON A SET OF UPPER ARMS FROM A GUY HEAR. HE HAD THE SHAFTS AND BALL JOINTS REPLACED DAYS BEFORE THE MOTOR NUKED AND NOW HE IS PARTING THE TRUCK OUT HEAR LOCALLY..ALSO IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I COULD USE/SHOULD GET FROM HIM ? IT'S A 92 MONTY SPORT FROM WHAT HE TOLD ME ..

Sports were not around until 96 I think. Yes the Gen2 upper control arm will swap onto your gen1 4 cyl. If you can figure out the search here, a few people have done the swap.
Please don't type in all caps.
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

on a 92,you can take the UCA's, but if you are not going to crank your TB's, the only real benifit is some added beefiness and bolt on ball joints vs the pressed in gen1. You will have to get an alignment after the swap. Some on here have swapped the whole front end. I am pretty sure you can use the front disks brakes and master cylinder with slight mods. I think there is a gen1 gen2 compatability thread stickied.

On the 4x4wire, we only use ALL CAPS when we shout or want to highlight a part of what we're saying. To answer your question if it's still not clear, the gen II Montero (not sure about the sport) has been shown to have an Upper Control Arm (UCA) that can be swapped into the gen I Montero/Raider to improve the CV joint angle and hopefully lengthen it's life. Also to clarify, early 2 door 1st gen Montero's (84-90) were sometimes called Montero Sports. The later Montero Sport which has a completely different body style than the same year Montero is a US only naming convention & was not built and sold in all countries like the Montero was. In countries where it was sold it was either called the Montero Sport or the Mitsubishi Challenger.

Also to clarify, early 2 door 1st gen Montero's (84-90) were sometimes called Montero Sports. These would have come with the LSD, bouncy seat, stainless and chrome trims, metal door mirrors, upscaled wheels, and other year specific things like rear gate power lock, rear wiper and washer. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
