got another fish window opening. always interested to see if anyone else may be in the area......
gotta see if some of the snow has thinned out.
also to see if suzi will like her "new" fuel system at altitude.......she has such an attitude about altitude!

i expect to gas up in markleeville real early thursday morning. probably back sometime saturday and then into cottonwood canyon and the springs 'till sunday before moving toward the state line. probably bail out thru nevada on monday.

made the run. beautiful weekend.
much less snow this month- i was winching thru here last month.

spent friday looking at access that is still too wet before making camp on the river just upstream from the hot springs.
i knew of a webgroup that was going to be in the area and met one of the group saturday(tom)and crossed trail with the rest on sunday. i intended to see them later at the b riley site, but they moved too fast.
i went out thru nevada and got home monday.
i was able to use the winch some more. once was 'cause i wasn't paying attention and fell into a "track trap". must have been very big tires that made this trap- my wheels didn't touch bottom!

starting to get a handle on my 2m setup. made my first contact. seems the gear works and i didn't sound too lame.
lots of rafters.
good run.

I saw your post on Expo, I was planning on that trip too, but couldn't make it. Like the pics!

Nice pics Richard! It sounds like the winch was a worth-while purchase. And I'm glad you're making use of your 2m setup, right on!

hello joannaham
'twas kinda cool. talked w/a ham in sacramento while i was going over carson pass. he could understand me better than i he(hee hee), and i was unable to copy his call sign- i'll get better at that, i hope.
i zip tied my funky mount/radio to the dash.

stuck a 1/2 wave ngp antenna on suzi.
[Linked Image]
seems to work, but i'm getting an swr/power meter to tune the antenna. mabe better then?
the winch has been a real kick. i worry less about getting in/out, and i found it real handy opening trail.
i've been bending up my stock pull points, so i need to do some more welding.

suzi the psychic gets me fishing.
she also needs a bath.

i didn't take a whole bunch of pics, but i liked a couple of 'em.
this was the start of a beautiful day.
[Linked Image]
like i said, there was much less snow this time.
[Linked Image]
the river is really cooking. this is the lower crossing area at the tubs. no way i'd try it.
[Linked Image]
also - i think this is the caples lake end of the strawberry trail?
[Linked Image]
i'll look for some more- i'm not much of a photographer.
