That would be sweet especially now since the 5.29 can be had for the 9.5 rear end. I'm poor otherwise i'd be in.

What's the source/part #, did I miss something? or is it a tale of Mitsu Canter again?

The 9in gears work in the 9.5

I'm the guy...
Is there any interest in these gears ?
High pinion 5.29 for the 8" front diffs.Mitsubishi do NOT make them.
They can work with both 9" and 9.5" rear diffs because the 5.29 rear gears for the 9" also fits the 9.5".
I tested it and it is 100% compatible.

I'm sorta interested. My dilemma is to go with 4.90's (proven, right size) or these 5.29's (unproven custom cut fronts, and smaller/weaker? rears).

What do the rest of you guys think? Wouldn't the smaller 9" rear be weaker than a true 9..5" rear end? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The main difference between the 9" and 9.5" rear diffs is in the drive shaft diameter. This is where you must focus for reliability issues.
The difference between 5.29 and 4.90 ratio is 8%.
To get an idea , if you have 5,29 and 31" tires changing to 4.90 ratio you must go with 29" tires to get the same results.

what about just using the LP 8" front to get 5.29's in the front?

It's possible.
If you have an 8" HP front diff you can replace it with an 8" LP and use MB241981 (5.29) gears.
With these HP gears you will need ONLY the gears. No propshaft and bracket modifications.

Question, the 97 MS used a 9" rear, right? I did that swap last year. I have the small front diff right now, but I can get the 8" front from Curt I bet (stock 89 v6). is the that 8" a HP or LP? My rig could really use some help turning my 34's.
