What I need to know is the length of the tube from the top to the point where it meets the engine. This is critical because the dipstick needs to descend to the correct depth in the crankcase. Would one of you guys be willing to measure the length of the dipstick guide tube on a 4D56 (or 4D55) for me and send it along? Still, I think the lenght may be different depending on the model; I lost my dipstick once, when I went looking for one I found at least three different dipstick sizes for the 4D56. This certainly complicates things. Maybe the best I can do is fill the crankcase with the specified amount of oil, then construct a guide tube that keeps the dipstick at the proper level.
