I have messed up the crank on my 87 raider. in the search for a crank and the parts I have found an 88 starion motor that is complete with all electrical stuff.

So my question is how hard it this conversion. the motor is out now so I'm just trying to deciede which route to go.

Check the AZ Crew section, then come over and look at my project. If I wasn't such a slacker, I'd have been done with mine about five years ago. It's pretty easy.

1. swap oil pans, and extend oil pickup tube approx 1".
2. remove ecu and all ecu wiring harness from truck with everything it connects to. (about an hour's job)
3. Take the dremel to the carb ecu box and open up one connector hole bigger and install starquest ecu.
4. Move firewall grommet on starquest fi harness to match carb harness (15min and some elec tape)
5. install sq harness to same clips as carb harness.
6. install sq spark box and coil
7. install sq inj resistor box near air cleaner.
8. install sq oil cooler and cut off steel lines at rubber line crimps and install new oil hose to banjo fittings with double clamps.
9. buy a Master E8000 electric fuel pump and install to round frame crossmember in front of fuel tank, and use FI fuel line and double clamps to hook to stock fuel lines.
10. install sq fuel filter and use FI fuel line and double clamps to hook to TB.
11. find an sq accel cable and mount to truck like old truck cable, but turn 1/4 circle guide tube approx 90* in plate to properly align with TB.
12. install motor.

thanks, we will be picking the motor up in 2 weeks. Got some good ideas from John B and will throw in a few of our own. Looks pretty straight forward.

one question, are you all running premium fuel with the turbo's?

I would think it's a very good idea to run premium fuel in that engine.

The progress is holding up on me ...lol.. The progress is I meet Marks son and we tooled up and down the road in the starion as the trans jurked along ..I forgot how "seamless" stock 2.6 starions are on there power... Very nice young man I must say ... And I'll pull the motor this week end ..My Dads said he got some stuff pulled off the car ..
