So for anyone who cares, and that has been living under a rock, I Finally got a diesel Raider. It's a plain ole 87 Raider, but it has a 4D56 in it. All stock...

Not the BEST videography in the world, but... This is my new DD. (stupid walkers got in my way... WTH folks!! this is my private racetrack!!) Now that I took out the ricer air intake and replaced it with a factory airbox, and K&N filter, the turbo noises are much more muffled.

Here's the tach working. I am VERY happy about this. It's totally stock with no super expensive aftermaket converter, or other bullcrap. Plug it in, and wire it up.

SO far I have done the following.

New drivers side door switch for dome light activation
New Hazard Switch
New dash from the UK to get working diesel tach.
Lots of lamps, and doodads.
Asian Manual locking hubs courtesy of JohnnyB
Defangled previous owner wiring from gas to diesel swap.
Removed ricer cone filter with electrical taped boot, and Installed factory airbox
New AC hoses to match factory compressor.
New compressor

Yet to fix
AC.. needs freon charge, check for leaks, chase compressor wiring down since this is an aftermarket AC truck.

Intercooler.. Needs factory bracket from the UK to properly mount the front so it will be in the exact correct location. I will make a bracket for the rear.

Wheel bearings.. while installing my manual hubs today I found out that the pass side bearings were watery, and roaring. I guess I get them ordered up soon.

Locate, and install front skidplates. They're gone.

Wish List....(Stuff I'll eventually get to)

31 AT's on 15X8 inch wheels.
Pajero steering wheel.
Factory Raider paint. Red with black window coves. As cool as the camo is, I'd like a non heehaw Hick looking rig. Sometimes I get snob looks from people

Lookin' good, Curt!

Too bad you're not up here, I've got some stuff you could have. Alas, we've had this conversation, and I KNOW you're not coming through the curtain.

Very nice.

What kind of gas mileage, sorry, diesel mileage, do you get?

Every 2.6l gas engined one I've owned sounds like a tractor, too. With a few loose parts added in.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
So excuse my ignorance on the history of these rigs. Was the diesel Raider a factory US sold truck. Don't think I have ever seen one. Seeing 87 Raiders of any kind is very rare around here.

I got about 21-22 MPG with my 4D56ITD LWB in OZ. He should do better.

Don't forget to replace the tensioner spring when you do the timing belt/water pump. Beware aftermarket water pump o-rings. Regardless of the instructions, I'd use Dawn etc. as a lubricant when you re-install the water pump O-ring.

I don't know why you'd need camo - the smoke screen makes it hard to see you.
