Need a Spot

Hi all, Iwant to replace my u joint as I have a vibration I am trying to eliminate. How easy is this to do for an newbie mechanic? Will I need any seals when changing? What seal would that be? Thanks

Wish I could tell you...even with all the wheeling I've done, I still have the original U-joints.

It is doable, but if you are truly a newbie, then I suggest you pull the driveshaft, buy the u-joints and take the whole thing to a shop who will press the new ones in for you. It is easier than banging them out by hand, especially if you have never seen it done before.
Good Luck, Michael

If you have lifted your truck, it may not be the U joints. It is very common for the center carrier bearing to vibrate after a lift.
Never changed a U joint except when did my SAS.

A '94 does not have a carrier bearing. I doubt, however, that your vibes are from the u-joints. If you replace them I highly sugjest you use factory isuzu joints. All of the aftermarket ones I have found use a smaller trunion than the stock units. My 96 had noticable joint slop at around 100k miles this one has a 5 speed. My 95 joints are still tight at 207k miles, but it has the auto. Its not hard to replace the joints, but it is fairly easy to screw up the new joint if you are not very careful.
1987 trooper LS.'94 3.2, SAS,35's , lots of dents and rust. Now, improved, with more dents. 1995 trooper LS. Wife won't let me improve this one. 1996 trooper. I'll need something to modify when the '87 finally rusts away.
