Took a trip for four months and coming home the 87 Raider won't run. Poured a little gas in the intake and it runs on that, so there's spark and compression. Gas doesn't seem to show up past the fuel pump.
Now sometimes it fires up and runs four or five seconds. Is there some obvious cause for this, easy to check? I have a condition that causes carburetors to never work right after I touch them, so it has to be simple.

Do you have fuel to the filter? Is the filter clogged? Have you disconnected the feed line to one of the float bowls to see that the pump is working? Have you tried filling the float bowls and pumping the carb? Once you have eliminated these possibilities, check for swollen fuel hoses at the tank, clogged hard lines, etc. to the rear end of the truck.

Thanks for reply-- I know it's not a terribly interesting problem. Yeah, I unplugged the line and tried pump, no gas spurting, but I could suction it through with a vacuum pump. Tested vacuum on pump and it seemed weak so I bought a new one-- still no gas spurting. Now it's all about not wanting to crawl underneath on the pointy gravel to check those lines.
