Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
Hi all,
Im having issues replacing brake pads. Got the caliper swung up and changed out the pads but cant get the damn thing to go back down.
I have screwed the piston back in and there's plenty of clearance on the inside. Its the outside of the caliper im having issue with. There's about an 8th of an inch of there that is not clearing. Even putting the old pads on wont fit.
I've tried using a c-clamp to move the caliper outwards but it doesnt budge.
Also the caliper doesnt move very easily. I've got to use a screw driver and pry to swing it up and down.
What Im I missing here?
1990 4cyl isuzu trooper.
Thanks.

Never mind. I got it. I just had to keep pulling it towards me and swinging it at the same time to get it to move.

Did you get it off of the pin? If not, you should so you can clean it up. The caliper needs to float on the pin on one end and the slide/bolt on the other. If not, it will drag on one side of the rotor.
Good Luck, Michael
