Yep, #2 plug on pass side blew right outta the head the other day. Was misfiring a bit, then bam it blew and some nice oil came flying out. It roasted/ate the coilpack boot as well. funny, cause I NEVER touched the plugs in the 50k ive had the truck and the last person to touch it was toyota from the previous owner (they did a head job). Wonder if it is covered??

Upon inspection yep, no threads left in the head. I dont want to do a head job, I was planning on selling the truck very soon.

Anyone used time serts before? I know a helicoil is junk for a spark plug (BTDT elsewhwere), and I have a time serted E250 van for work that a plug blew out (got it that way) thats been fine ever since time sert.

If I was to put the pistons at TDC so nothing can go down, and then do the job you think it would work? I honestly think those very very few shavings wouldnt kill it if I let a few get down there tho, all of them no of course but im talking about being very careful.

Also what would make the job SOOO much easier: is it possible to remove the tube the spark plug goes down into? Im sure its seal (if it has one) is bad b/c of the leaking oil.
So ideas??

I have used them in a 68' VW bug and a 79' chevy luv p/u.
Worked great for both and outlasted the vehicles themselves.

The bug went for 4 years after the fix and the luv truck went 4-5 before I totaled it.
