Getting the Wheeling Fever
After all these years foolin with old 4x4's, you'd THINK I'd remember to follow the advice I got here YEARS ago from FrankR, or FastEddy or was it Big Blue..(mor'n likely from all 3 smile to wit:
"Not a bad idea on a new acquisition to spend your first day cleaning electrical connections and ensuring good grounds, will save you a lot of time in the long run.."

('Gibbs' slaps back of head) 4 DAYS of chasing no start, 300bux in parts, and finally find a piece of some kind of crud that has worked its way (or maybe grown its way) into one of the pins of an ECU connector....
VROOOOOM!!!
Lot funnier now that during the last 4 days...
"Go Thou and do NOT do likewise"

Don't feel bad I did the same thing with a no start, However on my behalf, I cleaned the terminals with a wire brush first (apparently not good enough), so I looked at everything else down to the resistance on the ground wire two starters and two battery's later I was still wondering why it would only start with the jumper hooked up. Turns out that the reason it would start with the jumpers is cause it was on the out side of the terminals. But looking back on it that's what makes this stuff fun. Or maybe I'm just sick.

Body Damage is Cool
You almost make "sick" sound like a bad thing. Without going to a dr.,I can pretty well say I'm "sick" too! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

The word goes both ways these days, My meaning was that I almost like to hunt for issues like that. Well, It's never much fun while I hunt for it but once I find the problem and fix it. I like the sense of accomplishment! plus the money I save too!

Did I ever tell you about the time I spent 8 hours chaising a no spark situation, and finally sat down to take a break and try to think it through with a cigarette, and reached into my pocket any pulled out the dizzy rotor with the lighter?

or how about the time I had my 98 towed home because of a bad starter. I had the alternator go bad on me and never notice it. So on my way to Oakland from San Jose the truck ran out of juice, battery juice that is.

I called a friend who purchased a new battery for me and we installed it. Truck would not start, just click, click, click. So I had it towed home. Next morning I found a fuse in my change. That was the alarm fuse. I pulled it why waiting, so we could hook up the new battery and keep the alarm from going off.

That was a real DUH! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
