On a 93 4Runner that came w/ the 31" factory tire option.... what are the specs of the rims they came on? Alloy or steel? 7x15, 3.75" backspacing?

Theyre just SR5 rims. 15x7 4.75" backspacing.
Actually, you could get steel or alloy.

Wow. I didn't realize the BS was that deep. So they could be either metal, eh? And a replacement that is 3.75 BS will add an inch sticking out. Hum.

Wow. I didn't realize the BS was that deep. So they could be either metal, eh? And a replacement that is 3.75 BS will add an inch sticking out. Hum. Yeah it will stick out an inch more. I'm running 15x8 with 3.625 backspacing and they stick out over 2" more than stock. (1" wider plus 1.125" backspacing difference). 1" will be fine, not a big deal. will look alittle more aggressive. DO you have mud flaps? I find the farther the wheels stick out, the faster your truck gets dirty LOL... Well technically it's another guy's truck -but the "sticking out" is what I'm wondering about. Maryland inspection requires "fender must cover tires". Grrrr. Are the fender widths the same on 90s trucks and 4Runners?
Difference must be mostly the BS...if the tire is 10.5" across, dosn't THAT really set the functional width?

Yes, the 2nd gen Runners and 3rd Gen trucks had the same width fenders. I am not sure if the DLX model runners came w/SR5 alloys or not, I know the trucks didn't, even w/the 31" tire package. The DLX trucks came with the steel wagon style wheels. ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/Snowtoy/Trail%20Pictures/18copy.jpg) I think a 15x7 w/3.5" BS would still keep you legal, the tread shouldn't be beyond the fender. Might be able to go w/a 15x8 and a 4" BS as well. He could always run some Warn fender flares to cover the tires. 15x8 w/3.5" BS and 32's look alright w/the Warn fender flares. That is how my truck was set up in this pic, back in '94. ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/Snowtoy/Trail%20Pictures/sc03612c96.jpg) This set-up also widens the stance a bit. ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/Snowtoy/Other/T90trk1.jpg)
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

[quote]Yeah it will stick out an inch more. I'm running 15x8 with 3.625 backspacing and they stick out over 2" more than stock. (1" wider plus 1.125" backspacing difference).

Actually, it should be 1.125" backspacing + 1/2 width of the wider wheel. 1" wider wheel only adds 1/2" to each side of the wheel centerline. So 1.125" from backspace and 1/2" from width = 1.625" wider.
Note - this does not take into acc't sidewall reaction to wider wheel. That can vary from tire to tire.
Brian K. Gallus I have nothing important to say.
