Welcome to the wire. Your MM will have 4.22 gears in it. The diffs from a gen 1 V6 Montero will give you an easy bolt in install of 4.62 gears.

Look at the data plate under the hood. It has the diff ration on it in a 4 digit number, a la 4222, 4625, 3909, 3545, etc...


thanks, what all info is on the dta plate? will it say if it is equipt with a posi unit or not? are there any factory/swap locker options or front posi options? id like to keep it as mitsu as posible

There will be an orange sticker on the doorframe for an lsd warning if it has one, and often a sticker on the back of the pumpkin. No factory front locker available. THere is a fitable rear air locker from a 97-99 Montero SPort available, but very rare, that should be a bolt in with a couple of tricks. Depending on the size of your front diff, some Starion lsd's may fit with a ring/pinion change.

i have saw on a couple of other sites guys swapping in genII montero sport? upper control arms... is this the best way to correct alignment after a torsion bar crank? are there any other benifits to it?
