looking at a 92' pickup. it's a nice truck but is not SR5. what did the SR5 package include from 1988-1995 models?

looks like it was stuff like:

• nicer bucket seats
• carpeted door panels
• center console
• gauges
• sliding rear glass
• tilt steering
• intermittent wipers

The '92 is a 3rd gen rig, which were available '89-early '95, and came in 3 trim levels, Standard, DLX, and SR5.

At the time I bought my '90 new, the DLX came with carpeted floors, 60/40 cloth split bucket/bench seat, A/C, stereo/cassette, touring package(intermittent wipers carpeted floor mats, gauges, tilt steering wheel) window package(wing windows and sliding rear window) sometimes the tow package(drop hitch receiver and wired-up), upgraded steel wheels and could get tire package(31" wheels and 4.56 or 4,88 gears 5-spd/auto). The only options you couldn't get on the DLX were bucket seats/center console, power windows, cruise control, aluminum rims, a or sunroof. The extras made the SR% cost about $2k more, and added an extra $500 to the insurance costs.

My boss at the time had bought his 3rd gen X-cab in '89 and i was the standard model. IIRC, it had vinyl floors(though may have been carpeted, it has been over 20yrs now), no floor mats, am/fm radio, steel wheels, no tow package, or A/C, and had nothing included in the touring package, and standard(no wing windows). He had the dealership install A/C and a sliding rear window. I have also seen a 3rd gen X-cabs w/a solid bench seat in it, but I couldn't say for sure if it came that way, or someone installed one in it.

My '91 which I bough in '05 is identically equipped as my '90 w/the exception of no tow package, and with it being a 4cyl. I don't think the tire package was available for it, other than the upgraded steel wheels.

I have come across one 3rd gen x-cab that had a bench seat in it, but I couldn't tell you if it came standard that way or not. I would guess it didn't come that way, since the 3rd gen X-cab was designed to have seating for 5.

My '93 xtra cab is a dlx trimmed model. It has gauges, A/C and cruise control. A cloth bench seat, carpet, rear slider and vinyl door panels too. I hope to switch over to bucket seats and install a center console. One thing about a bench seat (and where do you find those anymore?) is that you can have your sweetheart sit nice and close.

I jave a '93 non-SR5 Xt-cab sitting in my driveway.
It has the split-bench seat, which BTW is really cool IMO - all the advantages to seperate bucket seats, but the option of a 3rd person (see sweethaert comment above!) or sleeping in the cabin (well as long as you aren't 6' tall).

It also has sliding open rear glass and tilt steering. The guages include a tach and voltmeeter, can't imagine whatmore youcould want?

My 88 4Runner is a DLX, aparently it came with NOTHING fancy at all.
In looking into this previouslt, I found that 100% of the SR5 stuff could be swapped in w/ minimal effort, i did most of it at various times.
IMO the best upgrade is the variable intermitant wipers, but I think all the 3rd gen vehicles have that?
