Do most fellows with the 22RE adjust the valves at 8 and 12 hot,or are there any that do them 7 and 11 cold?

I set them initially 8 and 12 with heavy drag. Warm up, check again and adjust if it's too loose for my liking.

This will also depend a tad on how worn the ends of your adjustment screws are, as they lose their convex surface over time.

x2 on the screws.
usually they wear a half moon in them, so you go to adjust them and it steps up on the high part of the adjuster.
I took mine out, most of them were worn un even and used a stone to round the ends back out.

oh, you can tape the threads a bit and mount them in a drill at a slow speed and use the stone.
