1989 Mitsubishi Montero LWB, 3.0L Auto


This was my second Mitsubishi Montero. I bought about 2 years ago. At that time, it ran very well and had a $3500 engine rebuild only 11,000 miles prior.

I added a set of Old Man Emu and 33x10.5s. The truck was running fine until an electrical fire started near the battery.

The previous owner had installed a remote start and alarm, which I think was the catalyst, but I am unsure. After the fire I pulled all the damaged material and began collecting replacement parts.

As far as I can tell, the fire damage is limited to some soft rubber and electrics. I have purchased a used wiring harness and much of the hoses and other parts which were damaged.

It was my intention to repair the truck but I do not have the will or time at this time. If I do not sell, I will probably keep as some frame off restoration with a diesel swap in the future when I have money to waste.

The vehicle is not running. The body is in good shape with the exception of the hood which sustained some damage in the fire.
